Panon DSR is a combinational capsule developed and distributed by Pax Healthcare in the market. This capsule is known for its gastrointestinal formulation and acid-related disorders and motility issues. The combination of three powerful drugs together makes it the most comprehensive therapy available for patients suffering from acidity, heartburn, reflux, nausea, and bloating. The recommended dose for the medicine is one capsule daily before taking the meal. This may show some common side effects such as Headache and dizziness, Constipation or diarrhoea, Abdominal pain and flatulence, Dry mouth and fatigue, rash, galactorrhea, gynecomastia, or liver enzyme disturbances.

Indications for its Use 

The tablet is used for the following conditions: 

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
  • Heartburn and chronic gastritis
  • Acid peptic disorders and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
  • Dyspepsia, indigestion, and bloating
  • Nausea and vomiting due to delayed gastric emptying
  • Ulcer prevention in long-term NSAID therapy

Mechanism of Action 

Pantoprazole (40 mg EC): It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It irreversibly inhibits the gastric proton pump (the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system present in the parietal cells of the stomach). It thereby decreases basal as well as stimulated gastric acid secretion to relieve heartburn, reflux, and hyperacidity. 

It acts as a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, increasing stomach and intestinal motility and promoting faster gastric emptying. Domperidone also acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) to prevent nausea and vomiting.

Dosage and Administration

The dose of this medicine must be prescribed by the doctor and must not be used by self prescription. The commonly recommended dose is 

  • For adults, it is recommended to take one capsule daily with a meal. 
  • The capsule should be swallowed whole with water. Do not chew, crush, or break it.
  • The dosage may be adjusted depending on the severity of the condition and medical supervision.

Possible Side Effects 

This capsule may show some common side effects that are usually adapted by  the body if the symptoms persist, then consult your doctor, some of the common side effects are :

Precautions

  • Panon DSR should be used cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
  • Long-term use of Pantoprazole may reduce absorption of vitamin B12 and magnesium, so supplementation may be needed.
  • The medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women unless prescribed by a doctor.
  • Avoid alcohol, smoking, and spicy food, as these may reduce effectiveness.
  • It should only be used under medical supervision and for the prescribed duration.

Storage Instructions 

  • Keep it in cool dry place
  • Keep it away from children and from direct sunlight
