P-COB

Category:
Description

P-COB Injection is a powerful neurotropic formulation designed to support nerve health, regeneration, and energy metabolism. It typically contains Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12)  a bioactive and neurologically active form of cobalamin essential for maintaining the health of nerve cells and red blood cell formation.

P-COB is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin B12 deficiency, peripheral neuropathy, neuralgia, and other neurological disorders. Administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection, it ensures rapid absorption, direct therapeutic action, and sustained bioavailability, making it an ideal choice for patients requiring fast correction of vitamin deficiency and nerve repair.

Mechanism of Action

  • Methylcobalamin acts as a coenzyme in the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine, a process vital for DNA synthesis and cellular repair.
  • It facilitates myelin sheath formation  the protective covering around nerves thereby promoting nerve regeneration and functional recovery.
  • The vitamin also aids in the conversion of fatty acids and carbohydrates into energy, improving overall metabolic function.
  • By reducing homocysteine levels, P-COB also helps in maintaining cardiovascular health and preventing neurodegenerative complications.

Indications for Use

P-COB Injection is indicated for conditions such as :

  • Peripheral neuropathy (diabetic, alcoholic, or drug-induced)
  • Megaloblastic anaemia due to Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • Trigeminal neuralgia and other neuralgic pain syndromes
  • Sciatica, lumbago, or cervical spondylosis–related nerve pain
  • Post-herpetic neuralgia (pain following shingles infection)
  • General weakness and fatigue associated with low Vitamin B12 levels
  • Supportive therapy in neurological disorders and neuromuscular conditions

Dosage and Administration

The injection must be taken as prescribed by the doctor or under a medical expert’s supervision. Some of the prescribed dosages are as follows :

  • Recommended dosage: 1 ml (typically containing 500 mcg to 1500 mcg of Methylcobalamin) administered intramuscularly or intravenously, as directed by a physician.
  • Frequency: Usually 2–3 times per week or according to clinical requirements.
  • Always use under medical supervision.
  • Injection should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional using aseptic technique.

P-COB Injection is generally well-tolerated. However, in rare cases, mild side effects may occur, including:

  • Pain or redness at the injection site
  • Nausea or mild dizziness
  • Headache or transient fatigue
  • Allergic rash or itching (rare)
